Strategy Director

The Strategy Director will be the lead strategist on client engagements and new business pitches. He/she should be self-directed, have a strong understanding of strategic branding, market dynamics, consumer psychology and the roles of different media within a brand’s ecosystem. Should also have a strong desire to deliver category leading work.

The Strategy Director reports to the network Strategy SVP and works closely with other members of the strategy and insights team. Director is an essential partner to Group Account Directors and the LA business development lead. Must have ability to distill a wealth of information into simple, compelling and actionable presentations. Will also work hand in hand with Creative, Communications/Media and UX teams to ensure strategic vision gets into market. 

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead strategy for client engagements. Partner with the Group Account Director to deliver business results. Become a trusted consultant for key accounts
  • Partner with business development to create pitch response frameworks, briefings and delivery
  • Own ecosystem planning for agency clients, be able to consult business leaders re: what to do/not do both formally and on the fly
  • Develop emotive creative briefs that differing creative teams – communication, experience – can use to develop compelling creative work
  • Mentor junior members of the team and elevate their confidence and skill set over time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years experience, across traditional brand planning and digital marketing.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of basic business and market fundamentals.
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and initiative - must be able to work autonomously or in advance of other teams joining, supporting.
  • Highly collaborative. Comfort with leading, co-leading and following in teams.
  • Proven strategic planning acumen and record of success, including experience in a client-facing, consultative role at a top-tier consulting firm or advertising agency preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Marketing or Business focus preferred; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
